“Her mother begged me to marry her because they wanted to use me for papers” – Angel Smith’s partner, Tumininu continues to spill more

Nobody saw the wedding coming. Even fewer people expected it to fall apart this fast.
Angel Smith, the BBNaija star who announced her marriage to her female partner Tumininu in an all-black ceremony in the United States on March 27, 2026, is now at the centre of one of the messiest celebrity marriage meltdowns Nigerian social media has seen in a long time. And the thing is, it has not even been two weeks.

Tumininu opened the floodgates on Snapchat, and once she started talking, she did not stop. Her biggest claim, the one that has people’s jaws on the floor, is that Angel’s own mother lobbied repeatedly for the wedding to happen. Not just once. Several times. She says she knows exactly why. “Them wan use me for paper, I japa,” she wrote, alleging that the family’s real intention was to secure immigration papers through the marriage and that she figured it out before they could pull it off.
She named friends who had encouraged her to go through with the wedding and threatened to see them all in court. “Soji, Chinwe, Crystal, Segun, all of you wey beg me to continue this shit. All of us go to court to explain ourselves,” she wrote.
Then came the receipts, or at least what she is calling receipts.
Screenshots of private conversations between the two began making rounds online. In one exchange, Angel herself appeared to have doubts about the marriage long before things went sideways publicly. She reportedly brought up concerns about Tumininu’s finances, said she felt no real connection, and flagged issues she was observing around her partner. Tumininu, in the same thread, asked her plainly if she wanted a divorce and brought up the fact that there was no intimacy between them. She also said she sold her chains to buy Angel a car. Angel’s response, according to the screenshots, was to ask whether she had ever asked for a car in the first place.

It gets messier. Tumininu has accused Angel of cheating on her with another woman she allegedly met on Hinge after arriving in the US. She claims she spent over $100,000 on Angel since she got to America, including $50,000 on her birthday alone. At one point she posted telling Angel’s mother to go and look for her daughter at her new girlfriend’s house.
None of this was visible when Angel shared clips of herself getting glammed up for the wedding on Snapchat just days earlier. The ceremony was intimate, the aesthetic was deliberate, all-black outfits for every guest, a detail that had caused its own minor controversy when the invitation circulated online. Fans pushed back. Angel pushed back harder. When someone asked why she could not find a man to marry, she said no man was good enough. She was married to a woman within days.
The first sign that something was wrong came almost immediately after the wedding when a video surfaced of Tumininu with another woman, clearly having a good time. Angel responded on Instagram the way she usually responds to things that bother her, obliquely and with attitude, posting cryptic messages that suggested she was unbothered and possibly available again.
Tumininu posted a meme about losing people to prove loyalty to someone who turned out to be disloyal. Neither of them said anything directly. They did not need to.
What is unfolding now is the direct version of that same conversation, and it is significantly louder. A marriage that barely had time to find its footing is crumbling in public, one Snapchat post at a time, and neither woman seems particularly interested in keeping the details behind closed doors.
