The multi-hyphenate producer and artist Pheelz has officially delivered his most ambitious, genre-agnostic project to date with the arrival of the 8-track EP, A Rii Set. Released via the Rii Collective, the project serves as a comprehensive integration of his dual identities: the flamboyant, high-fashion showman Pheelz and the technical master-producer Rii. It arrives as a massive creative reckoning, discarding all conventional playlist formulas to focus entirely on live-performance art, rich instrumentation, and emotional vulnerability.
The sonic architecture of A Rii Set is vast and beautifully experimental, drawing brilliant influences from bebop jazz, hip-hop, zouk, and 3-step house rhythms. The project is a star-studded affair featuring a meticulously curated roster of global and local powerhouses. Tracks like the disco-tinged DIRTY DIANA RIDDIM (named after Pheelz’s favorite guitar) and the high-energy GONGO ASO alongside Young Jonn bring sheer joy, while the heavy, street-certified OGA featuring Shoday and Oshamo guarantees immense crowd engagement.
However, the emotional anchors of the EP lie in its deeply introspective moments. The stunning, previously teased single I’M OK with the ace singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage functions as a spiritual masterclass in mental resilience and positive affirmation, while the heartbreakingly beautiful closer RIDE OR DIE featuring South Africa’s Ami Faku leans heavily into deep Afro-soul melancholia.
